The Chevrolet C8 Corvette revolutionized the way the world looks at American sports cars thanks to its supercar looks and mid-engine layout, and despite its impressive performance, fans have known since day one that a faster, more powerful version was in the pipeline. Now that the famed Z06 name is back, Corvette fans have been clamoring for a chance to see, hear, and drive this alpha predator, but production problems have been keeping potential owners waiting. Before those potential owners can start haranguing their local dealers for delivery dates, they need to place an order for the new Corvette Z06. Fortunately, it seems that orders will open very soon.

According to a rumor from Chevroletsources, ordering for the new Z06 will begin in late spring. This is a tentative date and is subject to change (as it so often is) but gives us a good idea of when fans will finally be able to throw their money at Chevrolet. Unfortunately, we can't comment on official pricing, as Chevy still needs to release those numbers, but we do know that once the books open, orders will be rushing in, no matter what price tag Chevrolet decides to stick on the Z06. What we do know is that the Z06 is going to be totally badass. Based on the GM Y2 platform, this American supercar will be offered in both coupe and convertible body styles.

Not only does the Z06 look great and sound fantastic, but it promises blistering performance too. Under the engine cover sits one seriously special power plant: the naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter LT6 V8 in the 2023 Z06 Corvette produces 670 horsepower and 460 lb-feet of torque and features a flat-plane crankshaft, an 8,600 rpm redline, and a race-ready dry-sump oil system. We recently saw the very first Z06 sell for an insane $3.6 million, so it would be wise to brace yourselves for some crazy markups and a long waiting list when orders finally open. We think it will be totally worth it.
