2023 Ford Ranger Platinum Debuts With Luxury Updates And 7,000-lb. Towing Capacity

Should this trim come Stateside, it could become rather popular.

There's now a new Platinum trim for the European market Ford Ranger pickup truck, which is set to be headed to America come 2023 as a 2024 model. Within reason, that also means the Ranger lineup could include this new Platinum trim, currently offered on existing Ford America trucks like the F-150. Of course, we also know that Ford is plotting a Raptor trim here in the States as well.

Over in Europe, the brand's 236 horsepower 442 lb-ft 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel powers the new Platinum trim, and is paired with a 10-speed automatic with AWD. Towing capacity is up to 7,716 lbs. The Platinum is available only in 5-seat, double cab spec, and buyers can expect a range (ha) of luxury features.

Ford Europe positions this above the Ranger's Wiltrak trim, an off-road focused model loosely similar to FX4 trims here in the US, or Bronco Wildtrak trims. A unique front grille with a matte chrome finish is complimented by the 20-inch diamond-polish wheels seen below, and Ford also offers a soft-close tailgate, privacy glass, and DRLs on the trim.

Inside, the Ranger has updated leather upholstery throughout, including front quilted and perforated leather seats. These are 10-way adjustable with heating and ventilation.

Ford fits "open-grained dark maple wood" trim where lower trims would be lucky to have faux aluminum, and the brand's ambient lighting is standard on Platinum models.

Infotainment is handled by two huge 12-inch screens with the latest version of Ford Sync. Platinum models get an 8-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system paired with the aforementioned infotainment unit as well. FordPass Connect modems are standard, which allows for real-time OTA updates to the truck.

As for driver assistance, many of the Wildtrak's systems are lifted into the Platinum. That includes park assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist, and a 360-degree camera.

Ford says production for the Ranger Platinum will start in March next year, which could coincide well with a North American debut. Pricing has not been announced.
