2023 Genesis G90 Fully Revealed With Stunning Interior

Reveal / Comments

Genesis spared no expense in crafting this sedan's inviting interior.

A few weeks ago, Genesis revealed the first official pictures of its stunning flagship sedan, the new G90. We said it had the looks and presence to take on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and that opinion has not changed now that the company has fully revealed the sedan.

While we have already gotten a great look at the sleek exterior, we had to rely on spy shots of the cabin - until now. As expected, the G90's cabin is a tranquil and opulent place to watch the world go by with tasteful materials, a fuss-free layout, and all the creature comforts we have come to expect from a sedan in this segment. It's worth noting that some of the features and specifications mentioned here apply to the Korean market, so these may or may not be mirrored for North American models.

The cabin design is not as striking as the one in an S-Class, but it's pleasing to look at nonetheless. It's a high-tech environment with the car's Integrated Cockpit combining traditional cluster information and navigation into a panoramic display. This display is separated from the central display screen by a thick trim element that stretches across the dashboard. Lower down, there's a mix of touch and physical controls for the ventilation system, and a physical dial in the center console can be used to control various functions. We like the way that the ventilation outlets themselves have been neatly integrated into the dashboard's design to the point that they're mostly not visible.

Materials are expensive-looking, with Genesis implementing glass and aluminum on the center console. Sustainable options like Newspaper Crown Wood and Newspaper Stripe Wood are in evidence too. In the Korean domestic market, five interior color schemes include Dune Beige/Velvet Burgundy Two-Tone and Glacier White/Urban Brown Two-Tone.

Equipment levels are high, and the G90 offers an EasyClose automatic door-closing system, a fingerprint recognition system, over-the-air software updates, a head-up display, and remote smart parking assistance. The G90 is also the first Genesis model to come with Hands On Detection (HOD), which detects when the driver is holding the steering wheel. HOD works in conjunction with Highway Driving Assist.

Luxury is paramount in this segment and much of that comes down to seating. In front, the G90 gets 'ergo-relaxing' seats with 10 air cells on the seatback and two on the cushion. A customizable massage function is available. At the back, there is a VIP seat on the right side with leg supports, a footrest, heating, and ventilation. There's also an eight-inch touchscreen back there to control seat position, curtain position, lighting, and more.

A 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system that creates a 3D sound experience will make listening to your choice of music even more satisfying. The sound system is linked to Virtual Venue, a system that recreates the sound characteristics of a selected space such as, for instance, the Boston Symphony Hall.

Another first for a Genesis is a fragrance system and, if you've had a bad day at the office, the Mood Curator system can be used to tailor features like the ambient lighting and sound system to improve your mood.

Powering the Genesis G90 will be a 3.5-liter turbocharged engine paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Genesis says that more information about the specifications of this engine will be available closer to the launch date, but it should produce close to 400 horsepower. The Preview-Electronic Control suspension scans the road ahead with a front camera to make adjustments for surface changes, and the Multi Chamber air suspension boasts three settings depending on the car's speed and other factors. In addition, rear-wheel steering should make the large sedan more agile.

Genesis has spent a lot of time making sure the interior is as quiet as possible, with an active noise control-road system canceling out any noises picked up from outside via the speakers. The company has even analyzed the sound sensitivity of each seat, the kind of attention to detail usually associated with Rolls-Royce.

Pricing hasn't been made available yet but deliveries will begin in 2022. A specific delivery date, as well as specifications unique for the North American market, will follow at a later date.
