After getting one of the most subtle facelifts in history for the 2022 model year, the 2023 Lexus ES and 2023 ES Hybrid arrive sporting some subtle, but important upgrades including new design and handling packages.

First up, the top-selling Lexus sedan gains the company's latest Lexus Interface multimedia system on an eight-inch or optional 12.3-inch touchscreen. This means ES drivers can now enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus a 10-year trial for Safety Connect and Service Connect.

It also benefits from a redesigned center console, new trim, and material options inside. Lexus says the new console now includes a sunglass holder, revised cupholder location, and an available wireless charger. What do those changes look like? We have no idea because the Lexus press photos only show a close-up of a speaker grille and the rear sunshade.

Moving on to additions that are pictured, a new F Sport Handling package (or grade as Lexus calls it) is now available on the Lexus ES 350 and ES 300h. The Handling package includes Sport+ and Custom drive modes, parking assist, F Sport-tuned adaptive variable suspension (AVS), a heated steering wheel, and Hadori aluminum trim. Unfortunately, it does not add any power under the hood, but customers can opt for a Mark Levinson 17-speaker, 1,800-watt PurePlay Surround Sound system. There's also the options of triple-beam LED headlamps and a power trunk with kick sensor.

The F Sport Design package (or grade) is offered on all three powertrains, namely the ES 250 AWD, ES 350, and ES 300h. This adds styling touches such as 19-inch gloss black wheels, a unique front bumper, special grille surround, and a rear spoiler.

Pricing for the ES 350 and ES 250 AWD start at $42,490 (excluding a $1,150 destination and handling fee). The former produces 302 horsepower while the latter only makes 203 hp. The frugal ES 300h develops 215 hp combined but blows the gas-only models away when it comes to efficiency, boasting 44 mpg combined.

If you want the hybrid model, it starts at $43,690, moving all the way up to $52,480 for the Ultra Luxury trim.

The ES 250 and ES 350 with F Sport Design both start at $47, 075, increasing to $48,950 for the F Sport Handling on the ES 350.

Available colors include Eminent White Pearl, Iridium, Cloudburst Gray, Obsidian, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Moonbeam Beige Metallic, Sunlit Green, and Nightfall Mica with Ultra White and Ultrasonic Blue Mica only offered on the F Sport models. Expect the 2023 Lexus ES and ES Hybrid to arrive at US dealers in fall 2022.
