The next-generation Audi Q5 and its sportier sibling the SQ5 have been spotted again. This time, both models were doing hot laps at the Nurburgring, courtesy of spy footage from CarSpyMedia. The small crossovers are fully clothed in camouflage, albeit they provided hints underneath the concealments and beyond what the eyes can see.

We've seen the Q5 side-by-side with the outgoing model before, and just like then, the recent sightings point toward the models' similarity with the Q4 e-tron but with obvious differences in terms of grille and platform.

The Q5 prototype seen at the 'Ring seems to be hiding the production taillights under a provisional set. An LED strip across the tailgate is expected to come with the production version.

Most of the appearances in the video were made by the Q5. However, the Audi SQ5 also made a brief stint, identified by its quad-exhaust tailpipes. The hotter model also appears to be wearing its production lights, while the yellow sticker indicates it is electrified in some form. The sound made during the test run also hints that Audi's equipping the SQ5 with a dual-clutch transmission.

As full electrification is already on the horizon, we're not expecting major changes in the powertrain department of the upcoming next-generation models. The hotter SQ5 is expected to produce up to 370 horsepower. Then again, nothing has been confirmed at this point.

Based on the previous sightings, the interior of the new Q5 will be adorned with Audi's current technology. The dashboard and center console are reminiscent of the upcoming Audi A4, although insiders have noted that the Q5's center console isn't as wide as the A4's, which should provide more space for passengers.

The interior design places emphasis on the two screens dominating the dashboard, with a larger floating screen now positioned in the center. We can see some lightly familiar elements and a new Quattro badge below the screens. The current layout reminds us of the center stack in the Audi A3, but the climate controls were notably missing.

We'll know more about the upcoming Q5 and SQ5 soon as we have reasons to believe that the former's debut is happening in the next few months. Meanwhile, the SQ5 will likely be introduced later, probably next year.
