2024 Cadillac XT4 Gets Major Lyriq-Inspired Upgrade

Reveal / 14 Comments

The interior finally looks like a proper Cadillac.

Cadillac's smallest crossover, the XT4, just received a major overhaul for the 2024 model year. The Cadillac XT4 first arrived for the 2019 model year and was last updated with new packages in the 2022 model year. This 2024 refresh is the most extensive one yet for the subcompact luxury crossover both inside and out.

On the exterior, the XT4 gets new signature vertical lighting cues reminiscent of the Lyriq. The grille features a dynamic parametric pattern with different finishes for the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels. There are new wheel options ranging from 18-20 inches and three new exterior colors: Emerald Lake Metallic, Midnight Sky Metallic, and Deep Sea Metallic.

Under the hood, the XT4 still only gets a single engine option, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. That means those rumors of a sporty XT4 variant were not true. Output remains the same at 235 horsepower with 258 lb-ft of torque sending power through a nine-speed automatic transmission to front-wheel-drive or optional all-wheel-drive. Active fuel management lets the XT4 shut down cylinders to maximize efficiency and the Sport trim includes with Active Sport Suspension for improved ride and handling.

The biggest changes come inside where the XT4 gets a gargantuan 33-inch-diagonal LED color touchscreen that's the same one found in the Lyriq. Not only is this a substantial upgrade over the outgoing eight-inch unit, but it's also the largest screen available in this segment. The curved display delivers 9K resolution as well as high-tech features like a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in Google, and Amazon Alexa integration.

Each trim level includes unique appointments. The Luxury trim features Piano Black trim with laser etching, the Premium Luxury gets wood or aluminum trim (depending on the color combination), and the Sport includes genuine carbon fiber or genuine wood (depending on color combination). As standard, the Cadillac Smart System bundles blind zone steering assist, rear cross traffic braking, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, following distance indicator, automatic high beams, lane keep assist, and second row seatbelt indicator.

An available Active Safety Package on the Premium Luxury and Sport trims adds adaptive cruise control, intersection emergency braking, reverse automatic braking, 360-camera system, rear pedestrian alert, enhanced lane keep assist, speed limit assist, and traffic sign recognition.

Pricing will be revealed sooner to when the 2024 XT4 goes on sale this summer.
