Our spy photographers recently caught the upcoming facelifted CLA out and about for winter testing.

The week before, we spotted the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLB undergoing winter testing. Like the GLB, the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class isn't particularly old, launching in the 2020 model year. Judging by the minimal camouflaging on this test mule, the 2024 model year update won't be too extensive.

The most significant visual changes include an updated grille and front bumper design, revised headlights, and new wheel patterns. We particularly enjoy the wheels on this prototype, which seem to have an aerodynamic function.

Our photographers didn't grab any pictures of the interior, but the CLA's cabin should remain mostly the same, aside from a few updates to the MBUX infotainment system.

There will likely be some significant changes under the hood, with every gasoline engine gaining a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup adding 13 horsepower. The base CLA 250 currently produces 221 horsepower from its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, so a 13-hp bump would be a welcomed addition. Merc's mild-hybrid setup is also known to improve acceleration via torque filling, so expect a dip in 0-60 mph times.

The hotter Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 was not spotted, but Mercedes has already confirmed that it will likely get the signature Panamericana grille when the time for its facelift arrives. The CLA 35 produces 302 hp from its turbocharged four-pot but could gain more power with a mild-hybrid setup.

It won't be coming to the US market, but the CLA sedan was spotted alongside the CLA Shooting Brake. The A-Class is already gone in the US, and Mercedes plans to focus more on high-end models, so there's little chance we'll see any new subcompact cars like the CLA Shooting Brake added to the lineup.

Expect to see the facelifted CLA arrive in mid-2023 as a 2024 model-year vehicle, with AMG versions likely coming at the same time.
