  • 468-hp V8 for the Cayenne S
  • All trims get more power than last year
  • Updated interior with more screens

After being put through rigorous testing, the new facelifted 2024 Porsche Cayenne is finally here. This is an update of the existing third-generation Cayenne model lineup, not an all-new version, but the changes are extensive both inside and out. Enthusiasts will be happy to hear that all variants are now more powerful and the Cayenne S gets a V8 rather than a V6. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo unit delivers 468 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, 34 hp and 37 lb-ft more than the six-cylinder it replaces. With this engine, the Cayenne S hits 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds (with the Sport Chrono Package) and goes on to hit 169 mph.

As for the base Cayenne, it still comes with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, but it's optimized to produce 348 and 368 hp, up 13 hp and 36 lb-ft over last year's model. This same engine is found under the hood of the Cayenne E-Hybrid, where it combines with a 174 hp electric motor to generate 463 hp. There's also a bigger 25.9 kWh battery (up from 17.9 kWh), which should improve electric range.

The Cayenne Turbo Coupe returns with the flagship GT model, still powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Output is up by 19 hp to 650 hp, yielding a 3.1-second 0-60 time and a top speed of 189 mph. This high-performance model comes equipped with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), rear-axle steering, a Sport Exhaust system with titanium tailpipes, and 22-inch GT Design wheels.

Every Cayenne trim receives newly styled fenders, hood, standard Matrix Design LED headlights, and three-dimensional taillights. These changes are subtle, but make the SUV look more modern and emphasize its stance. Porsche has added a few colors to its already impressive color pallet, including Algarve Blue Metallic, Montego Blue Metallic, and Arctic Grey, and there are new wheels ranging from 19 to 22 inches. An optional Lightweight Sport Package saves up to 72 pounds for Cayenne Coupe models.

Porsche's most significant changes take place inside where the Cayenne's updated interior is vastly different than last year's model. First introduced in the Taycan EV, the Porsche Driver Experience places important controls on or near the steering wheel. The gear lever is repositioned on the dash, freeing up more space in the center console. A new, curved 12.6-inch digital display replaces the analog tachometer with an optional head-up display.

Front and center sits a 12.3-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system with native apps like Spotify and Apple Music. There's also an optional 10.9-inch display on the passenger side with a special layer to make sure the driver can not be distracted by it. Don't worry purists, Porsche still left plenty of physical controls and buttons, like a volume knob.

Pricing is already available for the 2024 Cayenne, starting at from $79,200 for the base model ($84,300 for the Coupe). That's a whopping $7,000 more than the 2023 Cayenne but includes way more standard features. The standard roster now includes Matrix Design LED headlights, Porsche Active Suspension Management, 20-inch wheels (22-inch wheels on Cayenne Turbo GT), lane change assist, lane keep assist, keyless entry, and a wireless phone charger.

The 2024 Cayenne E-Hybrid starts at $91,700 ($95,700 for a Coupe), Cayenne S starts at $95,700 ($102,100 for a Coupe), and the Turbo GT (Coupe-only) costs $196,300. Porsche makes no mention of the GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S E-Hybrid models, meaning they may be later additions to the lineup. 2024 Cayenne orders are now open with deliveries starting this summer.
