Before we get off on the wrong foot, we're not talking about the electric GMC Hummer revival here. But if you like the old, raw Hummer with it's polluting emissions, there is an alternative from Mil-Spec Automotive. Although it's no modern reinterpretation of the iconic ex-military vehicle, it is super cool, and now it'll be even better off-road thanks to a number of upgrades. It's not an electric SUV like the special edition Arnold Swarzenegger acquired, but it will still kick ass.

Powered by a massive 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine, the Mil-Spec Automotive H1 produces 500 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque, which is split between front and rear axles with the aid of an Allison six-speed automatic.

Stronger engine mounts, driveshafts, and carrier bearings help this H1 take a beating off-road, while Wilwood six-piston brakes keep things under control. To increase range - something that you'll be worried about with such a huge engine - a new 30-gallon aluminum fuel cell has been fitted while a steel skid plate protects it and other components. On the outside, a Deep Sky Black Kevlar-infused coating is matched with semi-gloss black powder-coating and an onyx hardtop.

An extensive number of off-road enhancements join those above, including the Baja suspension package that almost doubles wheel travel to an astonishing 13 inches. This includes longer coil springs and remote-reservoir shocks, but the inside has also been improved.

The Executive interior package features onyx-colored Nappa leather with quilted stitching while an anodized finish for gauge bezels ties in with a custom machined steering wheel and key. Finally, a JL Audio sound system rounds things off. At the moment, the pictures you see are of the only model in the world - a special commission for an exacting customer, but the company is accepting new orders for production.
