4 More Reasons Why The BMW M2 Is One Of The Best New Cars This Year

M Performance

Performance is everything.

Last week saw the reveal of two fantastic but very different new cars, the Ferrari F12tdf and the BMW M2. The latter is the one that’s actually affordable and therefore realistic to own. With a base price supposedly starting at around $51,000, the M2 is very much in the same dollar range as the also new Ford Focus RS. Is the M2 a great bargain or is the Focus RS just too expensive? Buyers will make that call, but M2 hopefuls can now claim this: it’s Nurburgring lap time. BMW Blog has confirmed the M2’s official Ring time of 7 minutes, 58 seconds.

Why is that an incredible time? For these 4 reasons: 1. It’s 7 seconds faster than the V8-powered E92 M3. 2. Its 1 Series M Coupe predecessor lapped that German track with a time of 8:12. 3. The iconic M3 CSL had a Ring time of 7:50. Faster, yes, but only by 8 seconds. 4. The current M4 Coupe recorded a lap time of 7:52. Do the easy math.
