Winter is right around the corner, which means that it's almost time to hit the slopes. Sure, you could just throw some snow tires or chains on your car and head up to the mountains, or you could step your game up and get one of these slope-ready supercars and special editions. These customized cars and special editions are designed especially for winter conditions. An Audi R8 covered in carbon may not be the most practical car with regards to driving up to the mountains, but you can't argue its awesomeness.

BMW and sports-equipment maker teamed up to create the Concept K2 Powder Ride. This promotional one-off sports a graphics package borrowed from a pair of special-edition K2 skis, 19-inch wheels, black Napa leather with orange stitching and a custom roof rack. The Concept K2 Powder Ride is meant to promote the BMW X1 Powder Ride Edition, available to real-world skiers and snowboarders. The X1 Powder Ride Edition comes with aluminum-trim roof rails, a ski and snowboard bag, all-weather floor mats and a pair of special K2 LTD Powder Ride skis.

Swedish skier Jon Olsson is a connoisseur of supercars designed for the slopes. Seen here is his PPI Design Audi R8 Razor. The R8 is covered in carbon fiber and features a beastly 710hp V10 engine producing 417 lb-ft of torque. Olsson recently listed his R8 Razor for sale on his website; perhaps the sale means that it isn't as good in the snow as these pictures suggest?

Before Jon Olsson took his Audi R8 to the mountains he was slumming around the slopes in a Lamborghini Murcielago. This Murcielago comes complete with a camouflaged wrap and Olsson's trademark roof box. The best way to describe this Lambo is to use Olsson's own words. "This thing is sick...and is 100 percent ready to be driven 50,000km this winter."

The Winter Up! is one of four Up concepts unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The Winter Up! was designed to hit the slopes with its wider front fenders, side sills and bumpers. The roof rack is designed to hold either four snowboards or six pairs of skis.
