60 years after it came to America, VW has decided to mark the special occasion by releasing not one, but four special editions of the car that made it the company it is today - the eternal Beetle. And so, the NY Auto Show was selected as the perfect venue to roll out four new takes on the latest model, and the offers are as varied as the car's long history. First, there is the Beetle R-Line concept, powered by a 2.0-liter TSI engine making 217 horsepower. Its aero pack has all the appearance goodies you'd expect including a large rear spoiler.

True to the car's quirky history, there are more models with more 'personality.' The Beetle Denim features Stonewashed Blue paint, a denim colored roof and 18-inch wheels. Inside, seats, steering wheel and door panels get special denim-themed trim. Next up is the Beetle Wave, targeting the surfer crowd with Habanero Orange paint, 19-inch Tornado alloy wheels and R-Line finishes. The dashboard is also surfboard-inspired. Finally, the Pink Edition features Fuchsine Metallic paint, pink interior accents and 19-inch alloys. Currently, there is no sign that any or all of these cars will reach production. Instead, they're here to say happy birthday to the little Bug.
