ITA001 has been built for a special client in Italy.
Theon Design has revealed its latest Porsche 911 restomod, dubbed ITA001, built for a discerning aficionado in Italy.
Based on a 964 generation 911 Carrera 4, this carbon fiber-bodied beauty is powered by an air-cooled 4.0-liter flat-six engine that produces 400 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. The specialists have improved the throttle response by fitting a drive-by-wire throttle, a high-performance plenum, and a dual-mass flywheel which strikes a balance between civilized daily driving and quick responses. The UK-based specialists have also fitted independent throttle bodies to the engine.
Other improvements include the braking system and limited-slip differential from the 993 RS, a rare iteration of which only 1,104 examples were made. The RS also lends its six-speed manual gearbox to ITA001, delivering crisp and entertaining gearshifts. Naturally, power is sent to the rear wheels.
Theon has also equipped the bespoke creation with a ceramic-coated exhaust which emits a delightful noise.
To accommodate all the necessary components under the hood, Theon has relocated the air-conditioning compressors and the electric power steering pump to the front of the car. This also benefits the weight distribution, which the company describes as "optimized."
Speaking of weight, ITA001 tips the scales at a mere 2,540 pounds (fluids included). The featherweight mass comes from the carbon fiber body parts modeled in 3D design software to capture the essence of the classic 911 styling. Instead of a bare carbon fiber look, the owner has tasked Theon with painting the vehicle in Schwartz Black, a classic '70s color.
The staggered 18-inch Fuchs wheels feature champagne-painted spokes and detailing, emphasizing the menacing design. Satin carbon fiber exterior trimmings finish everything off nicely.
The interior is a symphony of old-world luxury and modern appurtenances. Tobacco leather upholstery and suede trimmings blend together to create a wonderful ambiance. The front touring seats are from Recaro, while the rear pews have taken inspiration from the Porsche 928's sculpted rear bucket seats. A sporty satin carbon fiber finish enlivens the fascia.
Peek through the three-spoke steering wheel, and your eyes will meet the traditional Porsche dials featuring tasteful green backlighting. Of course, the tachometer is centrally mounted, giving the owner an undisturbed view of the engine revs.
Despite the traditional design, Theon has included several modern essentials to make life easier for the occupants. A six-speaker Focal sound system, along with Bluetooth and a wiring charging slot, form part of the standard equipment, along with electric windows and several other convenience features.
Italy's roads are varied and range from smooth highways to narrow, rough country roads. To ensure ITA001 can take everything in its stride, the vehicle is fitted with a five-stage TracTive Active Controlled Electronics (ACE) damping system. This will allow the owner to enjoy the car just about everywhere, regardless of the road surface.
Theon has also equipped the bespoke 911 with a nose-lift system that allows the driver to easily traverse tricky driveways and pothole-ridden lanes.
"We're delighted to reveal ITA001 to the world. It retains the air-cooled enthralling 911's charm but blends it with modern, focused performance and dynamic ability; it's a classic 911 with an addictive dose of modern GT3 thrown in," remarked Adam Hawley, Theon Design Co-Founder.
In December, Theon revealed the BEL001, a supercharged 911 restomod created for a special client in Belgium. The company is not as well-known as California-based Singer, but as we've seen, they are capable of making extraordinary dream machines.
