As Nissan Skyline GT-R prices continue to skyrocket for every generation, what kind of monster would disassemble this perfectly fine $200K R34? Well, a Japanese tuning shop that aims to make a huge dent in the JDM restomod movement did because the market is molten hot. At the moment, prior generations of the Nissan GT-R brand, like the Skyline R34, are regularly selling for supercar money.

But what if there was a program to build a virtually new Nissan Skyline GT-R restomod with a full nut and bolt restoration with modern updates? Well, the answer to the question that only the wealthy few asked, is now answered by Japanese tuner, Built By Legends.

Build by Legends (BBL) is a dream team of OG craftsman, fabricators, and tuners who are basically the Chip Foose-types of Japan. While all-original numbers-matching R34 Skyline GT-Rs are soaring in value the highest priced ones have been all stock, but Built By Legends charges even more. Since every build has options, their R32 GT-R builds are roughly $380,000 including the donor car but the R34 GT-R will cost far more.

As a service, BBL in Japan will source a clean, Skyline GT-R chassis and build an entirely new Mine's-spec car. Based on Mine's parts, engine packages are built on RB26DETT inline-six engine modded and bored out to 2.8 liters in 500-horsepower, 550-hp, and the big gun, 600-hp flavors. The power delivery and balance of these (now 2,991-pound cars after a 268-pound diet) have been described as incredible. Although we haven't had the chance to drive it yet, we've lived vicariously through YouTubers on that press drive.

While they have completed R32 GT-Rs, these are pictures of the first R34 GT-R BBL project in existence. The pics surfaced on social media and they were basically vague on translated details but boasted that the entire factory-spec 1999-2002 GT-R here was ransacked in only six hours.

What have we accomplished today in six hours? A bit of banging away on keyboards and drooling over this stock R34. Considering, the Built By Legends team has accomplished a bit of JDM history in phase one is impressive. We look forward to their official R34 program progress and know that they and even Nissan and Nismo are committed to bringing GT-Rs several decades into the future.
