Did you know it's the most fuel-efficient VW?
Volkswagen introduced the Jetta back in 1979 after noticing that the traditional three-box sedan would sell better to a US audience than the Golf hatchback. Now in its seventh-generation, the 2020 Volkswagen Jetta is the most advanced model yet and it packs some interesting features that you may not know about. As part of a video series outlining the coolest features of its model range, VW USA breaks down the five coolest features of the 2020 Jetta.
The first "feature" is the Jetta's starting price of $18,895 for the S trim. This makes it the least expensive VW model in the US market and the only one to start at under $20,000 now that the standard Golf has been discontinued. As standard, the Jetta S includes 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth, and 14.1-cubic-foot trunk.
The second feature is the Jetta's fuel economy. Its 1.4-liter turbocharged engine produces 147 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque at just 1,400 rpm, meaning it can achieve 30/40/34 mpg (city/highway/combined) with either the six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. With no more diesel engines available in the US, the Jetta is the most fuel-efficient VW available.
On the SEL and SEL Premium trims, the Jetta's third feature is a 10-color LED ambient lighting system. Drivers can adjust the mood lighting based on the drive mode or customize it based on their liking.
The fourth feature is the Digital Cockpit, a 10.25-inch display that shows the gauges and can also turn into a full-screen map on navigation-equipped models.
Finally, the Jetta includes VW's KESSY keyless access and push-button start system on SE and above trim levels. This system allows drivers to lock and unlock the vehicle without taking the key out of their pocket using a sensor on the door handle. These features are also available on the sportier Jetta GLI, which was the subject of the previous video.
