Racecar-based model to feature lightweight carbon-fiber body and 700-hp powerplant.
Bentley will unveil its flagship performance variant of the Continental GT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this month. Set to be badged “GT3,” the rear-wheel-drive model will link Bentley’s race and road programs, with the carmaker recently making a winning return to GT racing with the Conti GT3. A test mule was spied at the Nurburgring last month, indicating what aerodynamic and design changes are afoot for the new model, which is expected to have in the region of 700 hp.
Weight-saving will be one of the main themes of the hi-po road car, including the liberal application of carbon fiber to the bodywork, and the removal of the four-wheel system in favor of a lighter RWD unit. The Continental GT3 will be built in a limited run, with deposits believed to have already been taken on the new model.
