740-HP Audi RS Q8-R Has An Eye-Popping Price

For Sale / 5 Comments

It costs over $200,000 more than the regular RS Q8.

Having smashed the current SUV lap record at the Nurburgring, the Audi RS Q8 already has a reputation for being one of the most savage SUVs on the market.

Powering this brutal beast is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, enabling the hardcore SUV to sprint from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds and top out at 190 mph. If that somehow leaves you wanting more, German tuner ABT recently unveiled the limited-edition RSQ8-R that makes the already-extreme SUV even more hardcore. Only 125 examples are being built to celebrate the tuner's 125th anniversary.

One of the very first examples was recently showcased on YouTube channel AutoTopNL. When the super SUV was revealed, ABT didn't release pricing details, but the same example shown off in the video is currently for sale in the Netherlands for an eye-popping €299,000. That's around $353,000 - roughly $235,000 more than the regular RS Q8.

To justify the asking price, ABT cranks up the power output from 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque to a supercar-slaying 740 hp and 678 lb-ft of torque. This was achieved by installing a new interooler, a sports exhaust system, a new intake, and remapping the ECU.

As a result of this substantial power boost, the RS Q8 R will accelerate from 0-62 mph in around 3.4 seconds and reach a higher top speed of 196 mph. While the standard RS Q8 is already one mean-looking SUV, the RS Q8 R looks even more menacing thanks to its carbon fiber aero package that adds a front spoiler lip, mirror caps, side skirts, wider fenders, a rear skirt add-on, and a rear spoiler.

The hardcore SUV also rides on massive 23-inch wheels. Inside, the seat seat covers, start-stop-switch-cap and the shift knob cover are finished in carbon fiber. Special "1 of 125" badging also adorns the door sills, floor mats, and center console.
