Corvette fans, eat your heart out.
A few days ago, Mecum Auctions set a new record in Kansas City to end off the year. The top three models that contributed to the total sales of $19.2 million included a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible that sold for the handsome sum of $148,500. Classic Corvettes have broken auction records before, and we may see more records tumble in Kissimmee, Florida, between January 6 and 16, 2022. Mecum has managed to assemble an incredible lineup of eight classic Corvettes. It's been dubbed "A Once in a Lifetime Offering of Corvettes" and, after seeing the eight cars that will compete for the highest bidder, we're not about to disagree.
The brutally quick Corvette Z06 recently joined the Corvette lineup in the US, and a trio of classic Z06 models that helped to establish the nameplate will head to Kissimmee. That includes a 1963 Z06 "Gulf One", a 1963 Z06 Split Window, and a 1963 Z06/N03 Split Window. Each one is special in its own way, with the Gulf One being one of just 14 regular-production Corvettes to have a serial number assigned especially for competition. The first Split Window has 39,000 actual miles and remains in original, unrestored condition, while the Z06/N03 has its original, matching numbers 327/360-horsepower engine. Outside of the Z06 models, there's a lot more for Corvette fans to salivate over.
The lineup includes two 1957 models, a Super Sport Show Car and a Big Brake Airbox model that's one of only 44 to be produced. Rounding out the lineup of eight Corvettes is a 1966 Pilot Line L88, a 1960 "Race Rat" Tanker, and a 1967 coupe with a mere 8,533 original miles.
"This remarkable selection of Corvettes heading to the world's largest collector car auction in Kissimmee represents the finest in Corvette history, provenance, craftsmanship and quality that Mecum Auctions has ever offered," said Frank Mecum, Vice President of Consignments. In total, almost 200 Corvettes will be auctioned at Kissimmee next month, but these eight are truly remarkable examples of a legendary sports car.
