Porsche has made eight iterations of the 911 over the past half-century-plus – the original, bear in mind, having accounted for the first half of that. So you'd think there would have been ample opportunity by now to bring them all together on the open road they were designed to master. But apparently this was the first.

Captured in southern Thailand, this video shows one example from each of the eight iterations of the 911 made to date, all driving on the same scenic roads. And that arguably makes it required viewing for any fan of Porsche's core model.

The succession of 911 generations has been anything but regular. While the first model remained on the market for 26 years (more if you count the 912 or 930 separately), subsequent iterations have lasted between four and seven years before being replaced by the next one, each iteration bringing with it incremental "improvements" while remaining (largely) faithful to the original format: small and nimble, with the engine hanging off the back.

Of course there've been numerous versions of each generation, and this gathering did better than bring together the "base" Carrera of each.

There's an original 912 (in green) and Carrera CS (white), a yellow 964 Speedster, a black 993 Carrera RS, a white 996 GT3 RS, a blue 997 Turbo, a chalk 993 GT3, and a brand-new, dark grey 992 Carrera S. They were each brought by enthusiastic private owners, save for the 992 furnished by Thailand's official Porsche importer. And they've all been captured beautifully in the video above and accompanying photographs, taken by Curves Magazine publisher Stefan Bogner and Singaporean shutterbug Yik Keat. It's not a site you're likely to see recreated often, so check it out while you can.
