816 Miles on 1 Tank: No Problem for the Jaguar XF Diesel

/ Comments

How far exactly is 816 miles? Try the distance from Birmingham, England to Munich, Germany. Jaguar's 2012 XF is their most fuel efficient model yet, equipped with Jaguar's 2.2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. A team of independent testers completed the impressive hike on one tank of fuel, traversing a mix of highways, winding country roads, and dense urban traffic.

The 4-door sedan, with the 190hp XF 2.2-liter was built for efficiency by linking to ZF's latest eight-speed automatic transmission and an engine stop-start system (the first time this has been fitted to a Jaguar). Its performance is also impressive. It can sprint off the line from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 140mph. The XF also pulls 332 lb-ft of torque and returns a fuel economy of 52.2mpg. As impressive as 816 miles on one tank is, it's still not enough to make it to the US. That's a fitting comparison because the Jaguar XF Diesel won't be available in the States.
