No better way to celebrate a birthday.
It's never too late in life to make some dreams come true. Just ask Chuck Cook. The US Air Force veteran determined that since he's not getting any younger, it was time to buy another Vette, this time a brand-new 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe. According to the Daily Commercial, the Leesburg, Florida resident recently celebrated his 90th birthday but wasn't about to let his age get in the way of driving fast and having fun while doing so.
"This is my birthday present to myself," he said. "I've owned Corvettes since 1981 when I bought my first one. This makes my fourth one in my lifetime. I can't wait until the pandemic is over so I can get this to all the car shows."
Even the day he took delivery at his local Chevrolet dealership turned into an occasion. His wife and several friends from his local Corvette club came along and many photos were taken. The smile on Cook's face is contagious. His red C8, fresh off the delivery truck from Bowling Green, Kentucky, is equipped with the Z51 Performance Package and features an Adrenaline Red interior and the optional Trident Spoke Machine Face with Stirling Silver wheels.
"This was the first 2021 Corvette to hit our lot," said a dealership employee.
"It was great being able to celebrate with him for his upcoming birthday and also have the first 2021 Corvette to come here." Cook's first Corvette was one of the last 81s off the production line in St. Louis, Missouri. He drove it regularly for years until he traded it in for a 2001 Vette, followed by a 2014 and now a 2021 model.
"I've been driving Corvettes for 40 years," he said. "It's my fun car. I have a 2018 Equinox as my grocery getter as I call it." Cook is proof you're never too old to have fun and live your passions.
