992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Swaps Plastic Parts For 1016 Industries Carbon Fiber

Tuning / Comments

Every unpainted plastic piece on the body has been replaced with sexy carbon.

Florida-based tuning company 1016 Industries has officially revealed its full carbon fiber replacement program for the new 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. It fully replaces all plastic exterior trim pieces with carbon fiber equivalents, giving the car a far more exotic look and potentially reducing the overall weight slightly.

The carbon fiber conversion kit's look was penned by 9design. It replaces the standard side skirts, front lip, complete front bumper assembly, wing mirror caps, rear wing end plates, front wheel arch vents, hood vents, and full rear bumper and diffuser.

From afar, the changes appear minor, but those who do discern the differences will be impressed with this kit's restraint.

Interestingly, the newer kit forgoes a full carbon fiber hood, which is probably a prudent call since such a thing is available from Porsche anyway (with the optional Weissach package). If it wasn't obvious, 1016 Industries' kit does not modify the vehicle's engine, but we reckon that all the weight you'll shed from the carbon fiber kit should work well with the stock 518-hp 4.0-liter flat-six.

The company has yet to release just how much weight will be saved; weight analysis is ongoing, so we'll likely get more information in the coming weeks. For reference, the new 911 GT3 RS tips the scales at 3,268 pounds.

As per its latest update on social media, 1016 Industries says that the kits can now be ordered. Exact pricing, though, has yet to be disclosed by the company, but we reckon it won't be cheap. After all, the full carbon fiber kit for the 991 GT3 RS costs $39,415. Then again, there aren't many ways of making a GT3 RS stand out from its peers without going over the top, and this subdued approach from 1016 Industries is both rare and appreciated.

All you need to do is throw on an aftermarket exhaust and a tune, and you'll have one of the most exciting 911s ever made.
