Ever since Robert Downey Jr's character Tony Stark drove an Audi R8 in the first Iron Man movie, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has featured some great cars. Within the movies themselves, we've seen a few other brands besides Audi receive screen time, including the Acura NSX Concept in The Avengers, Lexus LC 500 in Black Panther, and Hyundai Veloster in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Next up, the 2022 BMW X3 will debut in the upcoming Black Widow film, debuting on July 9.

Actresses Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh will drive the X3 during a car chase, while the 2 Series Gran Coupe will appear elsewhere in the movie. Judging by the wheels and the rear badging, the X3 used in the movie is the M40i variant with the turbocharged inline-six producing 382 horsepower.

"This is the very first time BMW has worked with Marvel Studios, and the result is just stunning," says Jens Thiemer, Senior Vice President Customer and Brand BMW. "Having the BMW X3 and the 2 Series Gran Coupe playing key roles in 'Black Widow' is part of our marketing strategy, adding strong emotional value to the communication of these models. As emotional and thrilling stories play an increasing role in our brand communication, we are definitely looking forward to continuing working with Marvel Studios."

As shown in an exclusive behind-the-scenes video, we see the new X3 is subjected to insane punishment during the chase sequence. The X3 appears to lose its passenger door during the chase before flipping upside down and eventually meeting its end in an explosion. Unlike a Fast & Furious movie, this chase seen appears more grounded in reality.

"There is no better vehicle to take us on Natasha's journey as she sorts her past than a BMW," said Mindy Hamilton, Senior Vice President of Partnership Marketing at The Walt Disney Company. "The X3 and 2 Series Gran Coupe are sleek and agile, just like Black Widow, and we are so excited for the world to see where we've been together in July."

Anyone who visits BMW Welt in Munich a few weeks after the debut will have the chance to see the vehicles driven in the movie, shipped straight from the set wearing their battle scars from the stunts.
