The Mini Cooper would have been a success even without the association with rallying. The little car was just exactly the right thing for its time and place, and its design was something genuinely radical. But it certainly didn't hurt that it won races and was an absolute blast to drive. That's why the following video was made, to show off how much fun an original Cooper S (arguably the first hot hatch) was to drive on those country roads.

It's all very rally-like, and it's even set to the tune of Sam & Dave's "Hold On, I'm Comin'", a thoroughly appropriate song.
