It only recently arrived in dealerships and already Chevrolet is reportedly considering a high-performance version of its new Tahoe full-size SUV. GM engineers and product planners haven't confirmed anything so far, but Car and Driver claims that after speaking with a Chevy spokesman, there are plans to develop "variants of existing products that appeal to consumers and build on our performance heritage."
An "RS" trim level was specifically mentioned by Chevy as well. More than likely, however, a Tahoe RS wouldn't receive any power upgrades to the standard 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. If there were to be an SS model, expect for there to be some sort of power upgrade. One possibility is the GMC Yukon Denali's 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, and even there more power could be found. For now, this is all speculation but what's clear is that Chevy is very much open to the possibility of a hot Tahoe.
