It is in great sadness that we report today the passing of the founder of Hamann Motorsport, Richard Hamann. At age 53, the family of Mr. Hamann notified the public of his passing last Thursday after a long fight against a severe illness which led to his untimely death. It was also announced that Mr. Hamann's company, Hamann Motorsport, will honor his memory and will continue the business according to his wishes.

Mr. Hamann's career in motor sports spanned over two decades, during which as a racing driver he participated in Gruppe C, DTM and Formula 3 races. In 1986, he founded Hamann Motorsports as a company devoted to modifying German cars. Later, the company's projects expanded to include cars from Lamborghini, McLaren and Ferrari.
