Locking differentials and 16 wheels spinning kicking up dirt with Bi-Turbo force, what's not to love?
If Mercedes built the G-Class 6x6 back when the original Terminator movies were being shot, we’re certain that Arnold Schwarzenegger would get in one and drive off in a sand-scurrying huff after dropping his signature "Hasta la vista baby." That’s because the rugged SUV is almost as badass as the Terminator himself, but while it remains one of the most capable out of the box SUVs that money can currently buy, many owners are content never letting them see dirt and instead prance around on city streets like show cars.
Not so with this team of videographers.
To get a little workout, three Mercedes G Wagons hit the non roads to portray a cinematic conquering of the Earth. Two are the legendary 6x6 models, which feature Mercedes’ 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 pushing 544 horsepower to all six wheels. One of these actually produces 700 horsepower thanks to a tune from Brabus. It’s a lot of power, but more impressive is that the stock engine on the G63 6x6 can motivate the four-ton beast from 0-60 mph in 7.0 seconds. The G500 Squared isn’t much slower despite the fact that it makes 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque courtesy of Mercedes’ 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. That’s enough to merit a 0-60 mph time of 7.4 seconds thanks to a 3.5-ton weight. Still, when it joins two 6x6s, the result is as impressive as it sounds.
