It's been rumored for a few months now, but chatter has increased over the past few days regarding Ferrari's planned hardcore variant of the LaFerrari. According to Australia's Drive, the head of Ferrari's Sporting Activity Department, which is in charge of all non-Formula One activities, confirmed that a LaFerrari XX is now in development. It will supposedly be ready for launch in early 2015. A Ferrari rep even stated that it'll be hard to improve the LaFerrari's performance.

So how will this track day car be any different from the road car? "It will be more or less the same (power) but it will be completely different (in) the handling, because it's normal that the handling is different for the circuit and the road. The difference will be the slick tires, the aerodynamics, the electronics, the suspension, and the shock absorbers." A car like this also begs the question as to whether or not Ferrari may consider a return to Le Mans. Apparently Ferrari is toying with the idea, but it would first need to put stricter budget limitations for its F1 and GT racing programs. In other words, don't rule anything out.
