Porsche is having a grand old time celebrating the 50th anniversary of its beloved 911 this year. And who could blame them? The 911 has become an iconic name, shape and symbol of sports car excellence and its influence can't be denied whether you're a fan of it or not. It was the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show where the world saw the 911 for the first time, and it's at this same show half a century later where Porsche is displaying not only the 50th anniversary edition 911, but also the all-new 918 Spyder.

To mark the occasion, the guys over at XCAR had the brilliant idea to drive a brand-new 911 Carrera 4 from London straight to Frankfurt. Along the way, our host delves into 911 history over the years and there's plenty of cool vintage footage as well.
