You may have read over the past few months that EV automaker Tesla was planning to build a massive Gigafactory, and several US states were being considered for the location. Just a few days ago Nevada was announced as the chosen state. Its main competitors were California and Texas, and many believed the former would ultimately prevail. After all, Tesla is headquartered in Palo Alto, California. So why was Nevada chosen in the end?

N/A

Other than the tax incentives the state pushed, there was one individual who really helped to move things along. And he's a brothel owner. Lance Gilman is a Storey County, Nevada, businessman and principal and director of the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, supposedly the largest industrial park in the world. He also owns the Mustang Ranch brothel. It's a completely legal house of prostitution that Gilman has owned for about a decade. And get this: he's also one of three Storey County commissioners. Yep, a local politician owns the local brothel. Gilman effectively used his influence as both a businessman and politician to lure Tesla's $5 billion Gigafactory project to his industrial park.
