If the modern-day supercar formula of a twin-turbocharged engine paired with a dual-clutch transmission doesn't excite you anymore, Gordon Murray, the man responsible for the legendary McLaren F1, has the antidote. Murray's new creation, the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50, engine that can rev to 12,100 rpm and produce 654 horsepower; and best of all, it comes with an old school manual transmission. Like the McLaren Speedtail, the T.50 sits three people with the driver in the center.

Having Murray behind the project already bids well for the T.50's success, but now Gordon Murray Automotive will bring another legend onto its development team. Dario Franchitti, Scottish racing legend, commentator, and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner, will play an essential role in the T.50's development, as well as the track-focused T.50s.

"I have been a friend and admirer of Dario for many years and I am delighted that he has joined the Gordon Murray Group family," said Murray. "His role will help us to hone the T.50 as the most driver-centric supercar ever built. His skills as a driver need no introduction but his well-known appreciation of road cars is rare for a racing driver in my experience. His relationship with our business will go far deeper. Dario will help us fully establish the Gordon Murray brand, with input and involvement in all future product decisions."

"As a passionate road car fan, it's exciting to be involved in the development of the T.50. It is going to be such an incredible car. A supercar designed and engineered with no compromises. It's also a dream come true to work with and learn from Gordon Murray who is someone I have always had the greatest admiration for, both as an engineer and a friend," Franchitti said.

Not only will Franchitti use his racing experience to help hone the car, but he will also use his broadcasting background to create a series of videos showing the development and production of the T.50. The first of these vlog-style videos, a teaser of what's to come, is now live on the Gordon Murray Automotive YouTube channel.

The T.50 begins deliveries in 2022, so there is plenty of time to make sure it is the best driver's car ever built. Gordon Murray Automotive will only build 100 examples of the standard T.50, plus 25 examples of the T.50s, which enters production in 2023.
