To celebrate the 50th anniversary of 'Bullitt' starring Steve McQueen, Ford built a special Bullitt version of the current-generation Mustang, which debuted at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show alongside the original iconic Mustang that starred in the famous chase scene set in San Francisco.

Like the original movie car, the Ford Mustang Bullitt is finished in Highland Green. Other modifications include black 19-inch five-spoke wheels, a rear spoiler, and special Bullitt badging. Under the hood, Ford massaged the Mustang's 5.0-liter Coyote V8 to produce 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Sadly, the Mustang Bullitt is no longer in production and has been replaced by the more powerful Mustang Mach 1. If you want to own one, your only option is to browse the used car classifieds.

This example is listed for sale by Russo and Steele is even more special. What you're looking at is the first-ever Bullitt Mustang modified by Steeda Performance, Galpin Auto Sports and McQueen Racing to create the achingly cool Steve McQueen Edition. In total, the Steve McQueen Edition boasts 27 upgrades that improve the car's performance and handling.

As standard, the Steve McQueen Edition has 20 more hp thanks to a cold air intake and an optimized ECU, increasing the output to 500 hp. This example, however, is fitted with an optional Whipple supercharger that increases the output to a whopping 775 hp. All that power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

To improve the handling, the suspension features upgraded sport springs, new shocks, a support brace, a bump steer kit, and billet aluminum links. Production of the Ford Mustang Bullitt Steve McQueen Edition is limited to 300 units per year. A new aero kit for the front fascia gives the Steve McQueen Edition a more aggressive look. Other exterior enhancements include rear quarter window louvers, custom 20-inch aluminum wheels designed by McQueen Racing with the help of Steve McQueen's son, Chad McQueen, and Nitto NT555 G2 High-Performance tires.

If you want to own the very first Steve McQueen Edition, you'll need deep pockets. There's no price listed for VIN 001, but the standard Steve McQueen Edition starts at $67,590.
