Audi continues to roll out its next-generation entry-level model lineup this week with the reveal of the new A3 sedan at the New York Auto Show. Previously, the A3 was sold only as a hatchback and a convertible but with the arrival of the sedan, Audi is looking to the Mercedes CLA with a compact premium sedan of its own. Following the A3 sedan, Audi is tipped unveil the convertible version at the Frankfurt show in September. And here we have a fresh batch of spy shots that tell us what to expect.

Our spy photographers just managed to catch a test mule out driving in Germany and now that there's less camouflage, we can see that its styling resembles that of the larger A5 convertible. That's certainly a solid thing considering the A5's elegant lines - particularly in contrast with the stubby design of the current A3 convertible. An S3 convertible with 300 or so horsepower could arrive at some point down the road as well, but an RS3 cabrio remains a question mark. We can dream, though. We can dream.
