Special Edition / Comments

The Abarth 595 and 124 Spider receive some special touches.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of Abarth, and to celebrate the Italian maker is launching new special edition versions of the 595, the 124 Spider and the 124 GT. The new 70th-anniversary range will be presented at the opening of the 2019 Monte Carlo Rally.

The entire 595 range, including the base-model, Turismo, Competizione and Pista, will be fitted with a commemorative "70th Anniversary" badge for the 2019 model year. Competizione and Pista models will also come with an updated seven-inch touchscreen featuring Abarth Telemetry, as well as a Record Monza exhaust with an active valve controlled by a "Sport" button. Pressing the Sport button opens the exhaust valve and the engine rumble becomes deeper and bolder, with the option to select a "gentleman driver" sound or a sportier roar. Both models also get Koni suspension, while power levels range from 145 to 180 hp across the Abarth 595 range.

The Abarth 124 Spider and 124 GT also receive commemorative "70th Anniversary" badging for 2019, along with a Record Monza exhaust and exclusive paint colors including "Turini 1975 White," "Costa Brava 1972 Red, " "San Marino 1972 Black", "Hessen 1972 Blue", and "Alpi Orientali 1974 Gray" named after Abarth's rally wins over the years.

Abarth's "70th Anniversary" edition 124 GT also comes with a carbon-fiber folding hardtop, 17-inch OZ Ultra-Light alloy wheels, gun-metal mirror caps and a gun-metal splitter. A matte-black hood, carbon fiber mirror caps and a carbon fiber splitter are also available as optional extras. Powering the Abarth 124 Spider is a 1.4-liter turbo-four with 168 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.
