We absolutely adore the 2022 Audi RS3. It has one of the most unique engines available today, a turbocharged five-cylinder that produces 401 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. That's enough power get the RS3 around the Nurburgring faster than any other compact sedan. Most buyers will be perfectly fine with the stock performance, but if you require a bit more juice, ABT Sportsline has a sweet new limited edition model.

Say hello to the ABT RS3-R Sportback, a 200-unit special edition. ABT takes the already potent five-pot and adds its signature Power R performance upgrade, an intercooler, and engine control unit. The result is 500 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, increases of 99 hp and 73 lb-ft, respectively.

That lofty power increase shrinks the 0-60 mph time from 3.8 to 3.3 seconds and ups the top speed from 180 to 186 mph. This particular model is based on the RS3 Sportback, which isn't sold in the US, but could ABT apply the same upgrades to our louder US-Spec RS3 Sedan?

We reached out to Bjoern Marek, President and CMO of ABT North America, who stated "the car will be coming to the US in sedan form. However, we do not have final details on power output for the US-spec RS3-R yet."

ABT doesn't just improve the straight-line performance either, the RS3-R gets new suspension springs and a sports stabilizer bar. There's even an optional V3 height-adjustable stainless steel suspension with 20 to 40 millimeters of play. Customers can also adjust the rebound and bump separately too.

The ABT tuning job is finished off with several visual flares, including high-gloss carbon fiber finish. The front lip, front flics, mirror caps, rear skirt, and rear spoiler are all made out of carbo fiber that pair beautifully with this Kyalami Green paint. Other upgraded elements include 20-inch black forged wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tires. Inside, the cabin bears ABT and RS3-R logos stitched into the headrests plus a door sill plaque that indicates the build number out of 200.
