Acura Reveals its MDX Prototype

Concepts

Although the production version isn't quite ready, Acura has revealed the MDX Prototype which all but gives away what the next-gen seven-passenger crossover will look like.

Although Acura is officially labeling this as a concept, it's evidently clear that the MDX Prototype is nearly production ready with the exception being the concept-like front and rear bumpers. Simply put, this is pretty much what the new MDX will look like. This next-generation MDX crossover will once again offer three rows of seating for up to seven passengers. Power will come from the latest version of Acura's direct-injected 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 but exact performance specs aren't yet available.

Along with the automaker's signature Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system, front-wheel-drive will be offered for the first time on the model. It will also feature an all-new more rigid and lightweight chassis. Furthermore, with its longer wheelbase interior space has been increased mainly in second-row legroom and improved third-row seat access. Other new style elements include a toned down version of Acura's design language, although we think it's a bit bland overall. Inside, expect to see the usual amount of high-tech amenities like the next-gen AcuraLink system with Pandora and Sirius satellite radio.

Overall it's a very attractive package that will surely find plenty of buyers and we also expect for a hybrid version to arrive at some point down the line. So yes, this is still a concept but Acura will be unveiling the production MDX in the very near futurer, possibly as soon as the New York Auto Show in March.
