The Acura TLX Type S is being spruced up for the 2023 model year with a new variant of the exclusive PMC Edition that will wear the exclusive shade of Gotham Gray. Limited to just 50 units to mirror the 50 NSX Type S models that wore the same shade, the Gotham Gray PMC Edition will be rarer than any of the original PMC variants, which were limited to 100 units each in Curva Red, Long Beach Blue, and 130R White.

Acura has selected Gotham Gray, the signature color of the NSX Type S supercar, for its latest special edition. The automaker says the exclusive paint lends the sports sedan a "sinister appearance" thanks to the unique hue, which utilizes a clear matte metallic finish.

Aside from the gorgeous new paintwork, the TLX Type S PMC Edition receives NSX-inspired 20-inch lightweight wheels in a Y-spoke design. These are painted in Berlina Black, with this dark shade applied to various exterior components, including the lower side sills and door handles. Gloss Black has been used for some of the exterior badges.

Underscoring the sporting persona of the limited edition TLX are the glossy carbon fiber styling add-ons. This includes a rear diffuser and rear lip spoiler in the lightweight material. Even the quad exhaust tips have been coated in black chrome. Red brake calipers add a touch of color to the exterior.

Inside, the carbon fiber theme continues with the performance-inspired interior trim panels. Red Milano leather seats feature contrasting black stitching and grippy Ultrasuede inserts. Other notable details include a numbered serial plaque that highlights the TLX's exclusivity, as well as premium floor mats with Type S badges and illuminated side sills.

If you were hoping for performance upgrades, you'll be disappointed. But the PMC Edition retains the turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that sends 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. The only additional performance pieces are the 255/35 Pirelli P-Zero summer tires.

Priced at $65,000 (excl. delivery fees), the TLX Type S PMC Edition is a pricey bit of kit. It's worth noting the standard TLX Type S retails for $55,550, and regular PMC Editions carry an MSRP of $62,000. So what do you get for the extra outlay? Aside from the exclusivity and gorgeous paint, Acura says the limited edition is hand-crafted by master technicians and receives the same quality control checks applied to the NSX.

This includes a dyno check, a rigorous paint inspection, and a rough-road simulation. All PMC Editions are wrapped in a car cover in transit and delivered to Acura dealers in single-car carriers. Production is expected to commence next month, but there's no word on when it will arrive at retailers.

This new model follows last year's TLX Type S PMC Edition.

Prior to this, the PMC Edition treatment was also bestowed upon the RDX. Acura gave the premium SUV Thermal Orange paintwork - lifted from the NSX again - along with a host of other goodies.

Getting back to the latest TLX Type S PMC Edition, we have no doubt Acura will easily sell all 50 examples without breaking a sweat. Whether it represents value for money is another story, though, as customers can pick up a BMW M340i or Audi S4 for $56,400 and $52,800, respectively.

Still, you can't put a price on exclusivity and, for die-hard Acura fans, that may be well worth the extra outlay.
