Acura recently showed off its new Type S Concept, a preview of the long-awaited return of the Japanese automaker's Type S performance line. The design language of the concept looks great and thankfully, Acura plans to use it on future products in the next two years - likely a TLX Type S and an MDX Type S. Both will be powered by a new twin-turbo V6 engine and both should be available in the same stunning shade of Double Apex Blue Pearl paint seen on the concept car.
The blue paint pays homage to previous Type S models like the 2007-2008 TL and we think it looks fabulous. But if blue just isn't your favorite color, a rendering artist named Hondatalover on Acura Connected has taken the initiative to imagine the Type S Concept in some other shades.
Acura Connect also ran a poll on Facebook allowing fans to vote for their favorite colors. Blue won the poll in an unofficial tally followed by white, dark metallic grey, and dark green. Red and yellow also look great. Based on the current colors available on Acura's sporty A-Spec models, we wouldn't be surprised if Type S models were offered in a bold shade of red to rival blue as a signature color.
The other bold options like yellow and green are probably just wishful thinking, although Acura did just introduce a retro yellow color for the NSX, so anything is possible. As for the tamer colors like white, silver, and grey, those will likely make an appearance on the production car for buyers who don't want their luxury sedan to stand out in a crowd. We typically prefer our performance cars to have a shouty color but the Type S still looks nice no matter which shade it wears.
