American Expedition Vehicles - or "AEV" for short - doesn't mess around when it comes to off-road vehicle equipment. The company builds some of the most extreme, capable, expedition-ready overlanding trucks available in North America, and was even tapped by Chevrolet to provide help in making the hardcore Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison.

Now, AEV is introducing a new line of rugged front and rear bumpers for Ram Heavy Duty trucks, with exactly the sort of functionality and robustness we've come to expect from the manufacturer. Not only that, but they look great, with aggressive stamped steel designs and rugged matte black powder coat finishes.

AEV's new rear Ram Heavy Duty bumper is available for the Ram 2500 from 2010 up, and for 2010-2018 Ram 3500 model, with a version for 2019+ 3500s coming early next year. It's designed to help maximize the departure angle off-road, and offers integrated tubular steel protection pieces for the truck bed corners, with heavy-duty ductile iron recovery points designed with off-roaders in-mind. An optional Auxiliary Light Mounting Kit gives customers the option of integrating extra lighting to illuminate the area behind the truck - a must for anyone who might find themselves having to back up to a trailer in the dark.

The new front bumper from AEV is so far only available for 2019 and newer Ram 2500 and 3500 HD models, but it ups the ante with optional Warn winch mounts.

Crucially, both of these bumpers have been designed to work with factory Ram features like ParkSense, Passive Entry Tailgate, and even Trailer TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). That same attention detail informs the design of the front bumper, which includes a different cooling shroud for diesel vs. gasoline trucks to help ensure that cooling isn't affected by the bumper.

The upgrade is merely the latest in a long line of truck-oriented off-road accessories by the brand, which has earlier this year released truck-bed spare tire mounts and full off-road upgrade kits for the Ram 2500.
