Koenigsegg may not be the oldest kid on the block, but its supercar is no spring chicken. The company was founded in 1994 and delivered the first CC8S in 2002. The Agera came along just a few years ago now, but fast as it is, it essentially amounts to a further development of the same car the Swedish company has been making all along. Still, that doesn't stop Christian von Koenigsegg from claiming that his Agera R is faster than the latest machinery to hit the street: the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari.

Speaking at the Geneva Motor Show, Koenigsegg says his hypercar could even lap the Top Gear test track faster than the Pagani Huayra that recently claimed the record, shaving a good four seconds off the older CCX's time. Though the Koenigsegg may be based on older technology, Chrisitan's claims aren't without basis. In the purest sense, the Agera R is more powerful than the P1, LaFerrari or Huayra. After all, it packs 1,140 horsepower to the McLaren's 903, Ferrari's 950 and Pagani's 730. Numbers aside, it strikes us as quite the bold claim. We're looking forward to someone finding out if Christian is right.
