Italian carmaker is working on new versions of its upcoming sports car (as well as a new headlight design).
News emanating from Italy suggests that Alfa Romeo has big plans for the 4C in the coming years. Design boss Marco Tencone admitted to Auto Edizione that while the Launch Edition balances weight-saving measures with putting down more power, a sportier variant built purely for racing is in the offing. This will doubtless be music to racing teams' ears, and those with a penchant for track days will be hoping Alfa develops the racing variant into a road-worthy 4C Stradale.
That's a formula Ferrari successfully applied to the 458 Italia in the form of the 458 Challenge and recently unveiled 458 Speciale. Lamborghini did likewise when creating the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale as did Maserati with its GranTurismo MC Stradale. Alfa also has plans for luxury variants of the 4C with an open Targa-style model to arrive in the near future, while a new headlight design resembling those on the concept will soon be available, presumably to appease potential buyers that have been seriously put-off by the current divisive design.
