Testing developmental prototypes can be tricky. Just ask the guy who crashed that Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series prototype at the Nurburgring. Sure, the factory test pilots and development engineers are possessed of enormous driving talent - many companies requiring that their staff be recertified in advanced driving techniques at regular intervals - but they're not super-human. Especially when the car in question is a mid-engined sportscar and the roads are wet with snow.

In this dashcam video, a motorist from Italy drives by a camouflaged Alfa Romeo 4C that has apparently spun off the road. Pay close attention and you might notice a camouflaged Maserati sedan (likely the upcoming Ghibli) pulled over further down the road.

Both the Ghibli and 4C are being developed and will be built by Maserati. The latter, as you may recall, first debuted in delicious matte red at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and returned in an equally delicious quicksilver finish at the following Frankfurt show. The design calls for a 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mounted amidship and driving as much as 300 horsepower to the rear wheels through a dual-clutch transmission. Production is tipped to begin at the Maserati factory in Modena next spring.
