Alfa Romeo will not make a wagon version of the Giulia sedan, this according to CAR Magazine. This information comes straight from the automaker, more specifically manufacturing chief Alfredo Altavilla. The reason is simple: Alfa doesn't want the Giulia wagon to eat into the Stelvio SUV's sales. "We decided not to do a Giulia Sportwagon. Do we really need it if the Stelvio SUV drives that well? Maybe not. With our fine-tuning, the Stelvio can capture all the people who would otherwise have been interested in the SW," Altavilla told CAR.

The news comes as a big blow to those who want more of the Giulia QV. That includes us. It's also a bit surprising as the automaker seemed to really want a Giulia wagon, at least for Europe. In a recent test drive we discovered just how breathtaking the BMW M3 fighter was. A wagon version with a QV badge would have been just as incredible and arguably more practical. Sadly the Giulia hatchback will only ever exist in renderings, at least for now. (Never give up hope!) The good news is that it's not all bad news. A Giulia coupe is said to be headed to Geneva and the Stelvio QV will be on the road this year. After driving the Giulia QV we have high hopes for the tarted-up SUV version. Please don't break our hearts, Alfa.
