This move will ensure that icons like the 33 Stradale live on for decades to come.
Alfa Romeo is a brand steeped in history, with beautiful creations like the 33 Stradale, Spider, Montreal, Giulia, and 8C, to name a few.
The Italian brand is preparing for the future with the launch of the 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale, a new crossover with a bespoke hybrid drivetrain. Recently, it also launched a new brand identity and will now focus on being a luxury automaker, slowly moving away from its sporty reputation.
But Alfa Romeo is not quite ready to let go of its past.
The Stellantis' Heritage Department recently launched the new Alfa Romeo Classiche heritage program, a set of services designed to promote the brand's history. The announcement was made during the Auto e Moto d'Epoca and the 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA 2022, two classic car-centric events.
As part of the program, Alfa Romeo will issue two types of certificates for repair and restoration activities.
The certificate of origin documents the year of production and original configuration using the chassis number, detailing specific elements such as the engine serial number, original exterior, and interior.
The Certificate of Authenticity verifies the data based on specifications in the company archives. Each car goes through a rigorous inspection and evaluation process by the specialists at the Heritage Department who can then assign a value.
"Alfa Romeo is going through a key phase in its history. The historical period we are going through is a genuine evolution. The brand's future includes very ambitious goals aimed at redefining the concept of sportiness in the 21st century, while remaining faithful to its DNA," said Jean Philippe Imparato, Alfa Romeo CEO.
"While planning for the future, our heritage is always our main source of inspiration. For us, the Alfa Romeo Classiche heritage program aims to enhance our historic automotive heritage by certifying the authenticity of vintage Alfa Romeos and giving new life to marvelous examples that still captivate and excite car enthusiasts around the world," he added.
If owners request it, the historical collection offers services ranging from simple maintenance to a complete restoration, including diagnosis, exterior restoration, mechanical or aesthetic repairs, and final testing. A dedicated area of the Alfa Romeo website will be created to help owners take advantage of the Classiche program.
