The long-awaited 2015 Cadillac ATS coupe, the US automaker's brand new BMW 4 Series and Lexus RC fighter, is expected to be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show this week. But can this great American hope for luxury and performance sports coupe dominance be the first model in recent years to forgo the classic grille ornament – Cadillac's traditional wreath? According to Chris Doane's Facebook feed, the spy photographer recently viewed the car and noted its naked grille.

Various recent reports have speculated about the brand's intention of redesigning or doing away with its outdated logo, and the new ATS Coupe may be the forerunner for an entirely new brand emblem identity. Cadillac enthusiasts have been biting their nails in expectation of the two-door ATS, while most are looking forward to the even more potent ATS-V coupe, which may sport Cadillac's all-new 500 hp V6. It will face off directly against the likes of the new BM M4 and Lexus RC F. That will be one epic showdown, to say the least.
