You'll just have to wait until November to drive one home.
The BMW X5 has been a key player in the automaker's lineup since the first generation debuted back in 2000. And now the fourth generation X5 has arrived. BMW has just released official pricing for both the 2019 X5 xDrive40i and X5 xDrive50. The former will begin at $61,695 and the latter at $76,745. Both figures include the destination fee. Some standard features include a Sport Automatic Transmission with launch control, Dynamic Damper Control, and a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays that each run the seventh generation of iDrive.
Some safety items include adaptive full LED headlamps, blind spot monitoring, frontal collision warning. Even a panoramic glass sunroof is now standard fare. There's also pre-wiring for a trailer towing capacity of up to 6,600 pounds. A few options BMW expects most buyers will want include remote engine start, BMW Laserlights, heated steering wheel, and heated and cooled cupholders. Those willing and able to continue checking the option boxes can tack on the M Sport Package, new Off-Road Package featuring an air suspension and mechanical rear locking differential and a factory-installed BMW trailer hitch rated at 7,700 pounds towing capacity.
If you recall, the 2019 X5 xDrive40i comes powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine with 335 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque, while the X5 xDrive50i has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 465 hp and 479 lb-ft. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is standard. Sometime next year the xDrive35d diesel variant is set to go on sale and in 2020 a plug-in hybrid will debut. The 2019 BMW X5 will officially go on sale in showrooms on November 10.
