BMW is about to launch its redesigned X3 for the 2011 model year. Early reports indicate it'll be slightly wider and longer than the model it replaces. Even with the added size, overall weight is supposedly down by around 50 lbs. Powertrains will carryover from the current model, however, BMW has hinted that it may offer a turbocharged four-cylinder engine along with an Active Hybrid. Whether this is true or not, it'll be interesting to see if BMW has addressed the shortcomings of the current X3.

Expect all of the usual high-tech gadgetry from BMW as well. Only time will tell whether the new X3 can effectively take on the competition.
