Hyundai literally stunned the industry back in 2008 when it launched their premium Genesis sedan. Along with its coupe sibling, the Genesis proved that the South Korean automaker was ready to take on the likes of many premium brands while still being able to maintain affordable prices. Think of their strategy as 'affordable luxury.' Some didn't think it could pan out and the Genesis wouldn't stand a chance at making a dent in the market.

Sales numbers have proven otherwise and Hyundai even launched a performance version called the R-Spec to much acclaim. Compared to other automakers, Hyundai's product cycle is also shorter in order to keep things fresh. Although the Genesis recently received a facelift, reports are now coming out that we can expect to see an all-new model launched in late 2013. Both sedan and coupe will continue on, but we don't know yet whether they'll be introduced at the same time. We can also expect for both V6 and V8 engine options to return.

About a year or so following this, an all-new Sonata, currently Hyundai's best-selling U.S. model, will debut. And remember, the Equus is their flagship model, a post once held by the Genesis. It'll be interesting to see what direction Hyundai will take the new Genesis in in terms of whether it'll become sportier or remain fairly conservative styling wise.
