The official debut takes place tomorrow.
It has been over a year since the world was first introduced to the idea of a QX50-based crossover coupe. Dubbed the QX55, this rival to the Audi Q3 Sportback and BMW X4 was first revealed at the 2019 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The car was set to start production in June and arrive at dealerships in the summer of 2020, but unforeseen delays mean that deliveries of the new model will only start at the very end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021. The original debut was set to take place on 11 November but was rescheduled for 17 November. As part of the big reveal, Infiniti has released one final teaser and made the announcement that singer-songwriter Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III, better known as Aloe Blacc, will oversee the event.
Previous teasers have revealed the sleek side profile of the new crossover which is a clear step away from the more traditional SUV design of the QX50, and the newly released teaser image further showcases the swooping coupe styling at the rear of the car.
"The Infiniti QX55 is a stunning new SUV coupe in the heart of one of the industry's fastest-growing segments, globally. Customers will appreciate the distinctive design of the QX55 which features a sporty coupe-like roofline," said Mike Colleran Infiniti Motor Company Deputy Chairman back in August 2019.
The QX55 is expected to be powered by the same 2.0-liter VC-Turbo four-cylinder engine found in the QX50, which produces a healthy 268 horsepower and is mated to a continuously variable transmission. Infiniti promises that "the QX55 will also feature innovative technologies designed to empower, engage, and connect luxury customers to the road ahead." The official reveal is set to take place at 5:55 pm (PST) on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
