Kia has been busting some big moves as of late, with its much loved Kia Stinger set to receive a big power boost, and its new Image concept about to enter production, but what about its more affordable offerings? Kia India has now announced that it will start production of its new Sonet, a compact SUV that is set to storm the Indian market when it is released in the months to come. This news comes hot off the tail of Nissan's Magnite concept which will target the same market, and offers similar dimensions and features.

Kia India has released images of the new SUV which include snaps of the interior and exterior, all of which look mighty impressive. According to Kia the new SUV "boasts Kia's iconic design DNA and a bold and powerful stance"

The Sonet, which will be produced in India, features a very handsome exterior that has hints of Stinger plastered all over and also incorporates some of its bigger SUV siblings' styling motifs. This little car has been designed with driver and passenger comfort in mind and features a vibrant interior that exudes youthful energy. The interior sports user-friendly features such as a two-layer tray to store mobile devices. The centerpiece of the interior has to be the first-in-segment 10.25-inch HD touchscreen and navigation system with UVO Connected technologies. The Sonet will also offer steering wheel-mounted controls and a metallic diamond-knurled trim pattern.

The exterior features the iconic 'tiger nose' grille, as well as LED headlights for an overall planted look with a serious curbside appeal.

"We are extremely excited to introduce the new Kia Sonet to the world, a compact SUV with a strong and muscular character found only in much larger vehicles. With this in mind, we have designed this SUV with a uniquely sporty attitude, a confident stance, and a dynamic silhouette. Its uncompromising attention to detail and selection of colors and materials could have only be inspired by the great cultural heritage that our designers found all over India," said Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design at Kia Motors Corporation. "We believe the Kia Sonet's compelling character will hold major appeal for young, aspirational, and always-connected customers in India and beyond."

There is no word on price or release date as of yet, but we're sure Kia's on to something here.
